I saw this picture on twitter and I’m wondering if anyone knows the specifics to get this look, I would like to know.

Reel mower, irrigation, and a lot of effort

Yeah you need a program and tons of water

As others have said, a reel mower will get you this look. But there are other factors to consider. This is almost certainly an F1 Bermuda hybrid or zoysia of some kind, which will do well when mowed low. Most common Bermuda needs at least a 1.5″-2″ height of mow to survive. Those hybrid Bermuda/zoysia types are superior and can get you that “golf course” level of look.

Upon further inspection, it really looks like Zoysia to me. That grass is the absolute tits but takes a ton of water and maintenance.

Have you heard of a new hot method called “brooming”?

    1) Have The Right Grass: Looks like a warm season grass, which tend to behave better than cool season grasses when going for such an apparently low height-of-cut
    2) Nurture The Grass: copious amounts of water, adequate fertilization, and appropriate weed control
    3) Maintain The Grass: mow, mow, mow
    4) Additional/optional appearance items: stripe kit on the mower (the hot “trend”/trope is using a broom), edging

  6. Bent grass or bermuda if you are southern, a reel mower with a roller, lots of water, fungicides, fertilizers, and some effort.

    And….. Cue…. The…. Brooms…. *sighs

  8. You gotta live up north and have Kentucky blue grass or some type of grass that you can cut less than half inch

Level yard, right grass type, water often, perfect fert plan, good weed killer, mow daily or every other day and a little luck.

OPs current grass probably looks like a school yard lol.

Two different green color spray paint.

You need a cool season grass, reel mower, fert, water, and a lot of blood, sweat, tears.

  13. Act if God. Grass is hard to stay perfect for long

Make your lawn 100% of your persona. The rest will follow

Be ready to dedicate all your free time to grass. Tons of leveling. Tons of seeding and watering. Tons of mowing. Tons of money on a GOOD mower.

These lawns are A LOT of work

I believe Benjamin Moore can colour match, you just need a 24” roller

In that particular case it’s done by attaching a striping kit to a push mower.

The best way though, is to use a cylinder mower. I’ll put a few photos in replies to this comment

Are you asking about the theory behind the stripes or just equipment to use?
